AUTOMATIC STEADY REST

Eliminat Roll Deflection
Long, small diameter rolls tend to deflect under the pressure from the grinding stone. This roll bending is reduced by steady rests that are to be reset in accordance with the roll wear, so that the roll is always supported consistently.

If the steady rests are not reset to maintain control pressure, there will be vibrations during grinding, traces on the roll surface, unroundness and many other problems.

The automatic Vollmer steady rests detect continuously if an optimum support of the rolls is given, resetting the position of the contact pieces in the steady rests automatically.

Result: Reproducible grinding results, much shorter grinding times, better roll surfaces and better shape results in the mill.
